REMNANT

An architectural fragment from an imagined place.

REMNANT is a handcrafted architectural sculpture inspired by the evocative verticality, structural complexity, and raw geometry of Brutalist architecture. Conceived and designed by an architect, the piece translates the language of monumental structures into the intimate scale of a collectible object, forming a dense composition of intersecting lines, overlapping volumes, frames, and structural fragments.

Each sculpture is individually cast and finished by hand in my studio in Madrid using a custom-developed mineral composite of ultra-fine cement and high-strength alpha plaster. The material has been carefully formulated to combine excellent mechanical strength with a high level of precision, allowing the intricate geometry, sharp edges, narrow openings, and layered architectural details to be faithfully reproduced. Its natural mineral tone remains intrinsic to the material, giving the piece a raw, authentic, and timeless character.

The surface retains a subtly tactile texture reminiscent of concrete and monumental Brutalist structures. Vertical elements, geometric frames, deep voids, and diagonal lines overlap throughout the composition, creating changing depths, shadows, and perspectives as the sculpture is viewed from different angles and under different lighting conditions.

Despite its compact scale, REMNANT carries a distinctly monumental presence. Its vertical proportions and substantial weight give the sculpture the character of an architectural fragment removed from a larger, undefined structure — a remnant of a place that may never have existed. Somewhere between architecture, sculpture, and collectible design, it is conceived as an autonomous artwork for contemporary interiors.

Displayed on a shelf, console, desk, pedestal, or as part of a curated collection, REMNANT brings a strong architectural presence to Brutalist, minimalist, modern, and industrial spaces. Each piece is made individually, with subtle variations in pores, texture, and mineral surface that are inherent to the casting process and make every sculpture unique.
